Angela Gheorghiu renunta definitv la Carmen de la MET

Dupa ce a renuntat la premiera din decembrie de la MET cand trebuia sa cante alaturi de sotul ei Roberto Alagna intro noua productie, Angela Gheorghiu urma sa cante in doua reprezentatii pe 28 aprilie si 1 mai alaturi de Jonas Kauffmann. Ea a fost inlocuita cu Kate Aldrich.
Angela a declarat ca mai necesita pregatire acest rol si simte ca nu este inca timpul sa il abordeze.

Angela Gheorghiu nu a renuntat definitiv la acest rol ci dimpotriva. Citeam cu ceva timp in urma ceea ce a declarat la conferinta de rpesa de la New York si anume: "To make so important a debut as Carmen, I want to be as prepared dramatically as I am musically. Therefore, I will postpone my role debut until a later date when I can work intensely with the Richard Eyre production."

When offered the new CARMEN, I had immediately thought that Richard was essential to create a new, fresh vision of Carmen for me. My greatest sadness in withdrawing the opening this season has been to lose the extended rehearsal hours with Richard. When I return to Covent Garden this summer to revive the 1994 production of LA TRAVIATA which Richard created for me, we shall again work together to deepen and build upon our 1994 collaboration.
